The Piper Meridian is largely built in-house, leveraging Piper's existing expertise and facilities, with its airframe primarily constructed from time-proven sheet metal and few composite parts.
The construction involves a meticulous process of assembling stamped fuselage and tail components, applying aluminum skins, and extensive riveting.
Major external and internal systems, including the Pratt & Whitney PT-6 turboprop engine, avionics, wiring, and flight control rigging, are installed at various stages.
Finishing touches such as custom paint schemes and the installation of sensitive interior components like leather seats are completed in the final steps to ensure quality and prevent damage.
The Piper Meridian is a success story due in part to Piper having leveraged its existing expertise and facilities in building the airplane.
