Former Embraer Leader Ernie Edwards Joins Aerion

Experienced aviation executive to help bring supersonic bizjet to market.

Ernie Edwards’ retirement as president for Embraer Executive Jets appears to have nothing to do with rest and relaxation. Instead, the highly experienced executive has taken on a new role to help bring the highly anticipated Aerion AS2 supersonic business jet, currently in development, to the market. Edwards has accepted the role as senior vice president and chief commercial officer of Aerion.

“[Edwards] understands our customer base, which, of course, encompasses the absolute elite users of business aircraft,” said Aerion CEO Doug Nichols. “His contribution to Aerion will be invaluable.”

Edwards experience in the aviation industry spans 45 years. Prior to his tenure at Embraer Executive Jets, he held senior management positions with Cessna, Gulfstream and Swift Aviation Group. Edwards is an ATP-certificated pilot, type rated in Citation jets and holds an Airframe and Powerplant license.

“The most rewarding times in my career have been those when I had the chance to run with a new idea, and remake the industry,” said Edwards. “Aerion will do more than that, it will simply revolutionize the way the world travels.”
