NAFI Offers MentorLive for Instructors—and Pilots

The series of webinars features a wide range of safety topics.

Good instructors know that studying with friends makes tackling challenging—and sometimes mundane—topics a lot easier to get through. And no pilot we know truly enjoys sitting down with the latest FAR/AIM and memorizing the regulations within—unless as a sleep aid. A series of webinars produced by the National Association of Flight Instructors brings a wide variety of safety topics to life—including the latest in the series, “Regulations in Plain English.”

Delivered by veteran instructor and the CFI Academy Standardization Manager for ATP Flight School, Todd Shellnutt, the MentorLive broadcast—planned for Wednesday, August 19, at 8 pm Eastern Daylight Time—proposes to give instructors an enhanced understanding of the regs so that they can pass along that knowledge in a more engaging way with students.

“When regulations come into play during the training process having enthusiasm about the benefits can truly make the difference in the pilot’s future flying endeavors,” said Shellnutt. He holds a CFI, CFII, and MEI, with a multiengine and single-engine ATP—and he’s also an FAA-recognized Gold Seal instructor with a NAFI Master CFI accreditation.

To register, visit the MentorLive site. All MentorLive broadcasts are approved for the FAA Wings program, and available in the faasafety.gov archive immediately following the broadcast. The program producer is NAFI Lifetime Member John Teipen, owner of Aeronautic Proficiency Training. Teipen donates most of his effort to NAFI on behalf of the flight instruction community.
