Video: Jackie Chan to Unleash New Embraer Jet in China

Chan invited as Legacy 500 launch customer.

The members of the press got a big surprise as Jackie Chan entered the media briefing room during Embraer’s press conference on Monday morning. Embraer announced the Kung-Fu master and philanthropist, who already owns a Legacy 650, will be the first customer in China to own the Legacy 500 fly-by-wire jet, which the Brazilian company hopes to deliver by the middle of next year.

Chan showed great excitement at taking delivery of his new jet, and even invited the standing room only crowd to come flying with him. Chan also raved about the capabilities of his 650, which is adorned with his signature “Dragon” livery, and he spoke about using it for relief work in the aftermath of the 2011 tsunami.

As part of the press conference, Ernie Edwards, president of Embraer Executive Jets, announced his retirement, passing the torch on to the current COO, Marco Túlio Pellegrini. With big smiles, Chan, Edwards, Túlio and Embraer’s president, Frederico Curado, concluded the meeting by unveiling an oversized model of the Legacy 500.
