Piper Aircraft reported a 16% increase in new aircraft billings for the first half of the year, signaling a stabilizing general aviation market, with projections for an even better next year.
The growth is attributed to bonus depreciation tax advantages and strong international sales, particularly in emerging markets, leading to 38 M-class aircraft deliveries and a significant resurgence in Meridian sales.
Piper is actively progressing on its Altaire single-engine jet program, with a critical design review planned for Q4 and targeted certification by late 2014, while also improving company health through a build-to-order philosophy.
In a sign that the general aviation market may be stabilizing, Piper Aircraft said new aircraft billings in the first half of the year rose 16 percent compared with the same period last year.
And the company says next year is shaping up to be even better.
