Explosion at Embry-Riddle Prescott Campus

A story in the Arizona Republic has revealed a disturbing incident at the Prescott campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The article reports that an explosion was set off in a parking lot at the campus on Tuesday morning.

In the wake of mass shootings at schools and public places around the country and the recent bombing at the Boston marathon, the Prescott Police Department is taking the incident very seriously. The FBI and the Arizona Department of Public Safety's Bomb Unit have been involved in the investigation of the apparent crime scene, and an 18-year-old student has been taken into custody, according to the article. It appears that an anonymous tip from someone in the student's dorm who reported suspicious items in his room lead to the arrest.

"The most important thing is that no one was injured, nothing was damaged, the campus is safe, and we will continue to cooperate with authorities in their investigation," said ERAU spokesperson Melanie Hanns.
