Blackhawk Gains Caravan Performance Upgrade STC

Growing sales cause restructuring.

Blackhawk Modifications this week got the nod from the FAA for its STC upgrade for the Cessna 208A Caravan, which we reported on recently.

“We are very excited to now be able to offer the XP42A upgrade package to the entire Caravan fleet,” said Jim Allmon, President and CEO of Blackhawk Modifications. “The upgrade significantly expands Caravan performance margins — reduced takeoff distances by up to 40 percent at higher weights, a 50 to 60 percent increase in the rate of climb and up to 25 knot increase in cruise speeds.”

With an expanding list of offerings, the sales of Blackhawk’s performance modifications are growing, causing the company to restructure its sales organization.

“The growth of our company in the international marketplace has been very strong,” said Allmon. “We are organizing our company to be ready for additional growth in all market areas.”

The network of 75 distributors of Blackhawk products will be headed by two divisions: domestic and international sales. Edwin Black will head the domestic sales while international sales reps will report to Bobby Patton, both of whom have been with the Waco, Texas-based company for several years.
