Stephen Pope Joins Flying

We at Flying would like to welcome our newest writer, Stephen Pope, to the magazine as senior editor. Those of you who are aviation insiders need no introduction. Steve has been working at the respected aviation industry trade publication Aviation International News (AIN) for the past 15 years. During that time he has won numerous awards for his writing, including last year’s NBAA Gold Wing Award, one of three Gold Wings he has won over the years, for his coverage of the relief efforts in Haiti. Steve covered a variety of beats at AIN and was editor of Business Jet Traveler.

Like just about everyone here at Flying, Steve comes from an aviation family-his father is one of the highest time helicopter pilots in the world and at 74 still flies as a pro pilot. Steve got his Private ticket at 17 one of the best ways possible, in a Piper J-3 Cub at a grass strip airport, and he went on to get his instrument rating. Steve’s knowledge of the avionics, business aviation, helicopter and cabin electronics market is world class. And his passion for all kinds of flying, from grass roots taildragger fun to big jet business flying, will be a perfect fit here at Flying. Welcome, Steve!
