Garmin Introduces Panel-ized Versions of 696/695 Portables

At the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Florida, this past week, Garmin introduced its new GDU 370 and GDU 375 displays. The new products are essentially versions of the Garmin GPS 695 (without XM Weather capability) and GPS 696 (with XM Weather) portables. But the new products are configured with power and antenna coupling for easy panel mounting. They also have redundant power inputs and a front-mounted SD card slot, optimizing them for panel duty. The new Garmin products are intended for experimental and light sport aircraft. The objective is to make the display compatible with yet-to-be-released flight display and engine-data sensors (expected by the Sun ‘n Fun show in April) to create a full glass panel to be known as the Garmin G3X. The result will be a combined primary flight display (PFD) and Multifunction Flight Display (MFD) combined on one 7-inch sunlight readable screen. Buyers can pre-purchase the entire system now for just under $14,000-or take delivery of just the GDU 375 for $3,995 or the GDU 370 for $3,295.
