Gulfstream Reduces Workforce in Two Cities

The Savannah Morning News, as well as that city’s WTOC-TV on May 4 reported, “Nearly 700 employees at Savannah, Georgia-based Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. have been laid off, according to information filed with the Georgia Department of Labor. As required by the Federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN), Gulfstream notified the GDOL on Friday, May 1 of 699 layoffs.”

Gulfstream said in a prepared statement, “The coronavirus crisis has impacted Gulfstream’s business operations. Because of these challenges, we are implementing several cost-management measures to help ensure the company’s long-term success. After careful research and evaluation, we are closing our Las Vegas [Nevada] service center and shifting that work to our new facility in Van Nuys [California]. The biggest factors contributing to our decision are the proximity, central location and capabilities of our Van Nuys center. Our Las Vegas service team will complete the aircraft currently in for service before the facility closes next month. Our Van Nuys service center offers significant customer resources, including sustainable aviation fuel and increased ramp space. Additionally, it’s home to Gulfstream FAST Field and Airborne Support Teams, a rapid-response unit.” Gulfstream said the Las Vegas facility employed 75 people.
