Hamilton Khaki Flight Timer

Stylish aviator watch brings innovative functions.

Hamilton’s latest pilot watch, the Khaki Flight Timer, is a multifunction quartz timekeeper with both analog and digital displays. The handsome Swiss-made watch offers several unique functions and was designed for pilots in cooperation with Air Zermatt — a Swiss helicopter operator that flies rescue, transport and sightseeing missions.

Air Zermatt’s logo is imprinted into the stainless-steel casing, which is water-resistant to 328 feet and features a sapphire crystal. The hour and minute hands have a white outline, making them easy to see, and the metal numbers stand out clearly on the dial. However, the digital information, sectioned into three small displays, needs the backlight to be clearly legible.

In addition to standard features, such as dual time zones, UTC time, alarm and calendar, the digital display is capable of showing ISA temperature conditions at different altitudes. Another unique feature that could come in handy for pilots is the watch’s ability to store flight details for up to 20 flights and up to 99 landings per flight (I’d like to see an airplane and pilot capable of doing that). With so many features on a small display, reading the user manual is key.

The Khaki Flight Timer comes with a brown leather wrist strap, or a black or bright orange rubber wrist strap, at a price of $1,445. A stainless-steel wrist strap is available for an additional $50.
