As we all know, bad weather can wreak havoc on air traffic flow for all airplanes from light single-engine propeller airplanes to heavy airliners. Here is a cool video that shows the traffic flow around Atlanta during a time of severe but localized thunderstorms.
The video shows the accelerated flight paths of airplanes going into Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which serves more passengers than any other airport in the world with more than 96 million domestic and international passengers in 2014, according to Airports Council International.
About 15 seconds into the video, you’ll see multiple airplanes entering several holding patterns as the airport appears to have been completely shut down for a period of time.
