After having one RV-8 have a mid-air and fall apart, I just do not get this formation business.
It's only a matter of time before these guys bump into each other again and we lose more planes, pilots and innocents on the ground. I think Van's needs to offer some kind of a sanity kit to the builders of the RV aircraft.
We drive in formation on America's highways and 40,000 people a year die trying. Why don't you go bother them?
People fly formation in paraplanes, while sky-diving, in fighters, bombers, commercial aircraft, airliners, and anything else that flies. And almost any time they bump into each other, it's bad. So what's your beef with RV builders?
THIS is Aviation idiot! don't look or listen if it bothers you or you have a week heart or mind.
This formation flying is precise, accurate and awesome to watch. I personally, as a pilot, would never do this but these planes and pilots are special in many ways. ENJOY and don't vry about it.
