The Cirrus SR20 G3 marks a significant evolution from its early "basic" design, transforming it into a "polished" and "grown up" aircraft with substantial improvements over previous generations.
Key enhancements in the G3 model include a new, longer and stronger carbon fiber wing that improves handling and increases useful load, taller landing gear, and a refreshed interior design.
The SR20 G3 offers improved performance with faster cruise speeds and notably smoother, more harmonious handling, making it a surprisingly capable cross-country aircraft despite its positioning.
It’s official. With the introduction of the G3 version, the seminal Cirrus SR20 piston single is all grown up.
I hadn’t fully realized that until recently, when I had the lucky chance to fly a pair of SR20s, one really old one (well, as old as they get) and one brand spanking new one, in close succession.
