Textron Aviation Announces King Air 260 Interior

Creative designs add comfort to the twin turboprop.

Textron Aviation has announced details about the interior for its Beechcraft King Air 260, the latest in the King Air 200 series. The 260 interior closely matches that of its larger sibling, the King Air 360. There are four standard color schemes: Latte, New Pewter, Alpaca and Buttercream; and one premium option – Lava Saddle.

The interior design includes luxurious wood-grain trim in the side panels, which also incorporate tables that fold into the sidewalls, cup holders, power and USB ports and LED lighting. Newly designed seats were created using a pressure mapping process to maximize comfort. The window shades have been redesigned with pleated, pull-down shades. Multiple cabinets are spread around the cabin for storage, with shelves and drawers that slide smoothly with the push of a button.

Like the King Air 360, the 260 includes a private aft lavatory. There is also a sizable luggage compartment capable of carrying 550 pounds. Near the top of the luggage compartment walls are clever fold-down bars that allow customers to hang clothes or other hanging cargo.

“In addition to the latest technology we recently introduced in the cockpit, these new features we are bringing to the cabin of the King Air 260 will create an elevated flying experience for passengers,” said Christi Tannahill, senior vice president of customer experience. “Cabin amenities play a critical role in the selection of an aircraft, but they are also vitally important to how much our customers will enjoy every flight they take.”

The “latest technology” and “new features” Tannahill mentioned include several cockpit additions designed to make the pilot’s job easier. King Air 260 pilots will get to enjoy the Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion avionics system – an integrated avionics suite with three 14.1-inch screens that support touch and point-and-click navigation. Multi-Scan weather radar helps the pilot avoid severe weather – including turbulence – up to 320 nm away. Also incorporated in the Pro Line Fusion is the pressurization control, which schedules cabin pressurization during climb and descent.

Additionally, the cockpit incorporates the Innovative Solutions & Support (IS&S) ThrustSense Autothrottle system, which can manage the power setting from takeoff to landing, including go-arounds and missed approaches. Thrustsense also prevents overspeed, underspeed, over temp and over torque events.

Textron Aviation introduced the King Air 260 in December of 2020 shortly after it launched the King Air 360. More than 7,000 King Airs have been delivered since the twin turboprop was introduced in 1964.
