At about 14:30 EST, a Cessna TR182 departed the runway during its takeoff roll at Haysfield Airport. The pilot and two passengers sustained minor injures. Tracks on the 2,400-foot grass runway indicate the airplane tracked down the centerline about 600 to 1,000 feet, then departed to the left, where the aircraft hit several trees. Feb. 24, El Prado, N.M. / Cessna 182

At about 18:45 MST, a Cessna 182E crashed on descent into Taos Municipal Airport, killing the pilot. IMC prevailed and no flight plan had been filed, although the pilot had an instrument rating. Before the pilot left Albuquerque, he had received a weather briefing that VFR flight was not recommended. He departed and was talking to a friend in Taos over the radio. When he got close to Taos, the pilot said he had the airport in sight but was having trouble keeping the runway lights in sight because he was flying in and out of snow showers. He was flying about 500 feet agl when he said he was picking up ice. He crashed about 1.5 miles east of the airport….

March 11, Fallbrook, Calif. / Cessna 182

At 10:16 PST, a Cessna 182Q crashed during takeoff from Fallbrook Community Airpark. The pilot was killed and the passenger was seriously injured. A witness said the pilot taxied from his hangar to the departure end of runway 18 and did not perform a pretakeoff engine run-up or cycle the propeller. The airplane took off and climbed to about 300 feet, at which point the engine quit. The aircraft cleared utility lines that ran along the airport boundary then pitched forward, impacting the ground in a nose-low attitude. At approximately 10:09 PDT, a Cessna 182P suffered a flight control interference while on final approach to a private airstrip. The pilot diverted to Tacoma and landed without incident. No one was injured. The operator reported the left flap restricted movement of the aileron while the aircraft was on final approach to Port Orchard. An inspector found the inboard left side flap track was cracked and broken. The flap deformed and contacted the aileron, restricting its movement….

At 11:00 EST, a Cessna 182P taxied into an unoccupied parked airplane at the Hartford-Brainard Airport. The two occupants were not injured. The pilot said he taxied the airplane from the north side of a building to the south side. He then set the parking brake and secured the engine to load a passenger along with some baggage. With the passenger and baggage loaded, the pilot started the engine. While the passenger was occupied looking for a pair of sunglasses, the pilot looked down to set the transponder code. At 1700 eastern time, a Cessna 182 made a hard landing at a private airstrip, damaging the airplane but leaving the pilot uninjured. At about 2052 eastern time, a Cessna 182RG was damaged while landing with the gear partially extended at Worcester Regional Airport. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The pilot said they were in cruise flight when he heard the landing gear motor activate and continue to run. He pulled the landing gear breaker and the motor stopped. He reset the breaker and performed the emergency gear extension. The landing gear extended, but did not come forward and lock. At approximately 0706 mountain time, a Cessna 182L struck trees while trying to land at Donnelly. The pilot was seriously injured and the flight instructor reported minor injuries. The pilot was a customer at a commercial mountain/canyon flying seminar, while the instructor said his role was as an observer on the flight. The instructor pilot said they were making a canyon approach to U84, which involved flying at 50 to 55 mph with full flaps and full nose-up trim. Dec. 12, Lancaster, Calif. / Cessna Skylane

At 10:00 Pacific time, a Cessna 182P descended into flat desert terrain near the Fox Field Airport as the airplane was maneuvering to enter the traffic pattern, killing the pilot. The pilot called the tower and reported about 7 or 8 miles northwest of the airport at 8,500 feet msl inbound for landing. The controller asked the pilot if he could descend from that altitude. The pilot replied that he would do his rock descent. He was then cleared to crossover the airport at midfield for a left downwind entry to runway 24. Radar data showed the airplane with a groundspeed that varied between 160 and 200 knots and a descent rate of 800 feet in 12 seconds….
