At 13:22 EST, a Cessna 150 was destroyed during landing at the Burnt Chimney Airport but the pilot was not injured. The pilot said he was attempting to land on runway 6, a 1,800-foot grass runway surrounded by trees, with a left quartering tailwind. He touched down approximately 900 feet beyond the approach end of the runway. The airplane struck trees at the end of the runway, on the right side. At 13:54, winds at an airport about 16 miles to the southeast were recorded as being from 260 at 19 knots, gusting to 24 knots….

Nov. 26, New Brockton, Ala. / Cessna 150F

At about 16:15 EST, a Cessna 150F nosed over during a forced landing in a field near New Brockton after running out of fuel. The flight originated at an unknown time from Enterprise, Ala. The pilot told inspectors that he received the airplane with the tank half-full of fuel and could not purchase more because of the Thanksgiving holiday. He flew some passengers around the local area and, on the third flight, the engine failed….

Dec. 15, Marksville, La. / Cessna 150H

At approximately 17:32 CST, the two occupants of a Cessna 150H were killed when the airplane crashed at Marksville Municipal Airport while the runway was closed for reconstruction. The flight originated from Zapata, Texas, at approximately 09:00, and two refueling stops were made. At 17:32, a witness observed the airplane on a normal landing approach to runway 22 at Marksville. The witness watched the airplane until it disappeared behind a tree line, at which time he saw the tail section go up into the air. Feb. 5, Mariposa, Calif. / Cessna 150J

Between 20:16 and 21:24 PST, a Cessna 150J crashed while approaching the Mariposa-Yosemite Airport, killing the pilot. Dark night VMC prevailed. The flight originated from Atwater, Calif., about 26 miles from Mariposa. Between 20:10 and 20:15, another pilot departed the Mariposa Airport and later reported that he heard the accident pilot, whose voice he recognized, make several radio calls on the local Unicom frequency. About 14:45 EST, the pilot of a Cessna 150 aborted a takeoff at Macivor Field, a private airstrip near Pembroke Pines, and collided with a fence and guardrail. There were no injuries. The pilot said that after rotation he was not comfortable with his altitude in relation to trees off the departure end of the runway and aborted the takeoff late….

At 10:31 CST, a Cessna 150M lost power during cruise and suffered substantial damage during a forced landing near Paxton. The pilot suffered minor injuries. The flight originated at Chanute, Kan., at 07:10 CST, and was en route to Detroit. The pilot told investigators that he decided to land at an airport near Champaign, Ill., after about 2 hours of flight but missed the airport due to the wind. He then diverted to Paxton and, after six attempts, was unable to locate the airport. The airplane ran out of fuel and the pilot landed on a plowed farm field 2 miles west of the Paxton airport. At 13:10 CST, a Cessna 150H was substantially damaged during a forced landing following a loss of engine power near Conway. The pilot and her passenger were not injured. The flight originated from the pilots private airstrip approximately 5 minutes prior to the accident. The pilot reported that, as part of a local orientation flight for her passenger, she intended to land at the Dennis F. Cantrell Field Airport. At about 1445 eastern time, a Cessna 150J crashed shortly after takeoff from Glynco Jetport Airport, killing the pilot and passenger. The pilot had told the owner of the airplane he intended to purchase it, and the owners agent said he could start the engine but not fly it because the insurance had lapsed. When the owners agent left the area, the 260-pound pilot and a 250-pound passenger took off. The airplane was full of fuel, putting the aircraft about 100 pounds overweight….

At about 18:44 EST, a Cessna 150F lost power on final approach and made a forced landing on an interstate highway. The two occupants were not injured but airplane sustained substantial damage. The flight originated from Enterprise, Ala., 3 hours, 4 minutes before the accident. The pilot said he climbed to 3,500 feet and was vectored around restricted areas. He then climbed to 5,500 feet and cruised at 75 percent power until he reached Macon, Ga., where he descended to 3,500 feet. Apr. 17, Lake Mary, Ariz. / Cessna A150L Aerobat

At about 19:00 MDT, a Cessna 150 hit trees while maneuvering near the shoreline of Lake Mary and crashed approximately 13 miles southeast of Flagstaff. The pilot was seriously injured and his passenger sustained minor injuries. Witnesses reported observed the airplane performing low altitude maneuvers over the lake. The passengers wife told investigators that her husband, who was not a pilot, said they had been grazing the lake and could not pull up when the accident occurred. The fuel tanks reportedly contained a total of about 12 gallons of fuel at takeoff from Flagstaff. Together, the two occupants weighed about 450 pounds….
