April 12, Iowa Park, Texas / Cessna 150

At 03:45 central time, a Cessna 150L lost engine power after takeoff from the Wichita Valley Airpark and was damaged in the ensuing forced landing. The CFI and student pilot were not injured. The CFI told investigators he was giving his student night flight instruction practicing takeoffs and landings. After the last landing the student pilot was performing a maximum performance takeoff and the engine lost power. The CFI landed at the end of the paved runway surface and rolled off the end of the runway. A visual check of the fuel tanks showed 1/4 gallon in the left tank, and 1/2 gallon in the right tank. March 14, Huntington, W.V. / Cessna 150

At about 11:20 eastern time, a Cessna 150 lost engine power and was ditched in a river near Huntington. The pilot was not injured. The pilot said he had purchased the airplane in January and it was overdue for an annual inspection. He was issued a ferry permit to fly the aircraft from Huntington to Milton to receive an annual inspection. The pilot said he drained water from the fuel tanks, conducted a preflight inspection and ran up the engine before takeoff. About three miles from the airport, the engine began sputtering. At about 09:15 Alaska time, a Cessna 150D struck trees during a forced landing near Soldotna. The solo student pilot was seriously injured. The airplane was flying near the airport when the engine lost power. The airplane descended rapidly and struck trees. Investigation showed the fuel tanks were intact but contained a less than usable quantity of fuel….

At 07:55 central time, a Cessna 150K crashed during initial cruise flight near Bishop. The pilot suffered minor injuries. IMC prevailed but a flight plan was not filed. At 10:00 Pacific time, a Cessna 150L crashed into a farm equipment yard shortly after takeoff from Mefford Field, killing the student pilot. Witnesses flying remote-controlled airplanes nearby watched the accident airplane take off and noted the flaps appeared fully extended. June 03, Arlington, Wash. / Cessna 150

At about 15:30 Pacific time, a Cessna 150 was damaged following an engine fire during start at Arlington Municipal Airport. The two occupants were not injured. The pilot said he attempted to start the engine and it ran briefly then died. He primed the engine and hit the starter, which caused smoke to pour from the engine compartment. He pulled the mixture and continued to crank, but the smoke continued. The two occupants abandoned the airplane and the engine compartment and cockpit burned….

October 04, Sargent, Texas / Cessna 150

At 13:05 central time, a Cessna 150G crashed after takeoff from a private strip near Sargent, killing the pilot. The flight was originating at the time, destined for Baycity, Texas. A witness said the pilot had tried to start the airplane a week earlier, but the engine ran very roughly. On the day of the accident, the owner of the airstrip helped the pilot pull the airplane out of mud in which it had become stuck. It was raining heavily at the time, and the pilot did not perform a preflight inspection or runup. The airplane took off and climbed to about 100 feet agl when it stalled and spun to the ground. At about 1601 eastern time, a Cessna 150L crashed while attempting to land at Gwinnett County-Briscoe Field. The pilot, who held an airline transport rating, suffered minor injuries. The pilot said he abandoned his first attempt to land on runway 25 he could not properly line up with the runway due to a crosswind.
