Premier Aircraft Sales announced Tuesday that it is donating the 200-hour inspection on Diamondo Earthrounding's Diamond DA50 RG as it continues its journey around the world.

The purpose of the epic flight is to raise awareness of the importance of global sustainable aviation practices.

“Premier Aircraft Sales is extremely proud to be donating the labor to perform the required 200-hour inspection and service for these amazing pilots and their incredible DA50 RG,” Travis Peffer, CEO of Premier Aircraft Sales, said in a statement.

“Along with being the first Diamond Authorized Service Center in the U.S. to perform this service on any Diamond DA50 RG, our entire team is honored to assist the Diamondo Earthrounding crew’s noteworthy mission in any way we can,” he added.

“Whether the airplane is going around the world or around-the-pattern, we are committed to doing the job with the utmost safety in mind,” said David Seastead, director of maintenance at Premier Aircraft Sales’ Fort Worth Diamond Aircraft Service Center.

According to Seastead, the 200-hour inspection will include:

  • lubrication
  • an engine inspection
  • change of oil and air filters
  • oil analysis
  • servicing of wheel bearings
  • inspection of brakes and flight controls
  • inspection of rigging and structural points
  • a gear swing
  • hydraulic function tests

About the Mission

The pilots for the round-the-world mission are longtime friends Matthias Nederhäuser and Robin Wenger. The pair began their journey on January 2 from Zurich, Switzerland. The route takes them eastbound to take advantage of prevailing winds. They expect to be back home in Zurich on April 22 in concurrence with World Earth Day

The Diamond DA50 RG is a five-place, single-engine composite aircraft powered by a new-generation 300-hp Continental CDI-300, FADEC-equipped, turbo-diesel engine.

As part of the mission to help demonstrate the seamless switch to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the crew will use SAF-blended jet-A at every location where it is available. Through their partnership with Jet Aviation and their SAF “Book and Claim” system, the flight can claim to conduct their circumnavigation with net-zero carbon emissions.

Diamondo Earthrounding is a Swiss nonprofit initiative of nine aviation enthusiasts. Nederhäuser and Wenger are founding partners. By the time the journey is complete, they will have landed at 73 airports in 35 countries.
