SocialFlight Launches Event App

If you ever wonder where you should fly next, there’s a new app available for the iPad, iPhone and Android devices that can help. SocialFlight is a free tool developed by Where2 Interactive that displays upcoming air shows, pancake breakfasts, aviation seminars, conventions and other aviation related events.

You can view lists of events or see them on an interactive map where you simply tap on an icon to get more information such as date, time, location and contact information for the organizer. You can also filter the events based on a date range or the distance from the home airport. And there is a search feature that allows you to find events at a specific location.

In addition to the nearly 2,000 events included in SocialFlight’s database, once you sign up you can upload your own events. Organizers can make it easier for members to find their events by providing a link to a special interactive view provided by SocialFlight on their websites.

If you find an event that you’d like to attend, SocialFlight can help a little with flight planning as well. Each airport has a color-coded icon based on the current weather conditions. And once you’re at the event, you can share your experiences by uploading pictures and posting in an event-specific chat forum.
