The Mooney M20 seems to have hit the sweet spot of speed and economy right on the money.

The efficiency trade-off of a Mooney M20 is a small cabin. While slightly larger than earlier models, the 201 still challenges leggy occupants, especially in the back seats.
The easily distinguishable Mooney M20 empennage moves to provide pitch trim.
The 201 panel was the first in the Mooney M20 series that accommodated a six-pack configuration for the primary flight instruments.
More than 40 million total flight hours have been logged by the Mooney fleet.
Mooneys have achieved more than 130 speed records.
