Key Takeaways:

  • Redbird Flight Simulations developed a special, bright yellow simulator for the Piper J-3 Cub's 75th anniversary, featuring a unique manual propeller spin for startup realism.
  • This simulator is a special version of the Redbird MX2, created in collaboration with A2A simulations, and is noted for its "extraordinarily realistic" flight dynamics.
  • It faithfully replicates the Cub's basic cockpit with a control stick, throttle, classic airframe bars in the view, and a fuel gauge rod from the cowl.
  • The J-3 Cub simulator is available for demonstration and purchase at Redbird's booth at AirVenture.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Piper J-3 Cub, Redbird Flight Simulations has developed a special simulator based on the beloved taildragger. Like the airplane that inspired its development, the sim is bright yellow. And to further the realism of the simulation, Redbird went so far as to put a propeller up front which must be manually spun in order to get the simulated flight started.

Redbird teamed up with A2A simulations to develop the Cub sim, which is a special version of the Redbird MX2. “The flight dynamics are extraordinarily realistic,” said Redbird’s vice president of sales, marketing and services, Charles Gregoire.
