Each day, the team at Aircraft For Sale picks an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, represents a good deal, or has other interesting qualities. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.

Powerful, fast, and beautiful, the Cirrus SR22 piston single has been a hit ever since its arrival on the market in 2001, and its long lifespan means there is a wide range of used examples available.

We recently featured a 2023 SR22T G6 that offered shoppers a nearly new airplane without the long waiting list for a factory-new version. The appeal of this first-generation SR22 is the opportunity to enjoy Cirrus performance at a relatively economical price.

While avionics have come a long way since the early 2000s, Cirrus has always equipped its SR series aircraft with some of the latest systems available. The navigation and multifunction display in this airplane’s panel were state of the art when new and still get the job done well. Recent service to certain expensive components add to its appeal.

This 2002 Cirrus SR22 has 1,614 hours on the airframe, 505 hours on its 310 hp Continental IO-550-N7 engine since overhaul, and 291 hours on its Hartzell three-blade propeller since overhaul.

The aircraft has a new parachute and rocket motor deployment system, both installed this year. It carries 81 gallons of usable fuel and is equipped with an Airwolf air/oil separator, Aviation Resources single exhaust tip, and wingtip strobe lights.

The panel features an Avidyne Entegra EX-5000 MFD, dual garmin GNS 430 GPS/Nav/Comms (non-WAAS), Garmin GTX 335 transponder, GMA 340 audio panel, Sandel SN3308 EHSI, S-Tec 55X autopilot, EMSX engine monitor, and Davtron clock with voltmeter and outside air temperature displays.

Pilots who are more interested in a Cirrus SR22 for its composite construction, impressive performance, and attractive styling than for the latest avionics should consider this 2002 model, which is available for $259,500 on AircraftForSale.
