Key Takeaways:

  • Bombardier is pausing production of its Learjet 60XR due to an extended period of low sales and economic downturn impacting the business jet market.
  • This production suspension, slated for fall, puts approximately 275 employee positions at risk, with the company monitoring the market for a potential resumption.
  • Despite the 60XR halt, Bombardier continues steady development on its new Learjet 85, 70, and 75 models, which are expected to enter service next year.

As the economic downturn continues to stymie demand in the light and midsize business jet sectors, Bombardier has announced it is pausing production of its Learjet 60XR.

The decision comes after an extended period of low sales numbers for the seven-passenger jet, which boasts a 2,405 nm range and a cruise speed of Mach 0.81. After 19 Learjet 60XR deliveries last year, Bombardier reported just three deliveries during the first quarter of 2012.
