Key Takeaways:

  • Bombardier is pausing production of its Learjet 60XR this fall due to a sustained economic downturn and low sales in the business jet market.
  • This decision follows a period of low deliveries and puts approximately 275 employee positions associated with the jet at risk.
  • The company will resume 60XR production if demand recovers, while concurrently progressing with new Learjet 85, 70, and 75 models expected to enter service next year.

As the economic downturn continues to stymie demand in the light and midsize business jet sectors, Bombardier has announced it is pausing production of its Learjet 60XR.

The decision comes after an extended period of low sales numbers for the seven-passenger jet, which boasts a 2,405 nm range and a cruise speed of Mach 0.81. After 19 Learjet 60XR deliveries last year, Bombardier reported just three deliveries during the first quarter of 2012.
