Various Cessna 172 models experienced a range of component failures, including electrical switches, starter bolts, ignition harnesses, and critical engine and fuel system parts.
Several incidents led to serious operational safety concerns, notably two in-flight engine failures attributed to a defective fuel pump in an STC-modified aircraft, and significant power loss from a cracked cylinder.
Recurring fuel system issues, such as an underperforming fuel pump and a leaking fuel servo, highlight persistent challenges, with one servo problem being a known issue disputed by the manufacturer.
