Flying Challenge Cup Off to Great Start

More than 1,400 sign up to compete.

It looks as though Flying’s stick-and-rudder skills competition will be fiercely contested as Redbird Flight Simulations reports that more than 1,400 pilots and non-pilots have registered to compete for a free trip to Oshkosh 2014.

So far three contest modules have been released for the Flying Challenge Cup, including Lazy 8s, Precision Landings and Steep Turns. Several hundred competitors have flown the scenarios, which are open to participants in three categories: pilots, students and non-pilots.

More than 80 Redbird simulator-equipped flight schools are participating in the challenge. The top 12 scoring competitors through July 7 will win a trip to EAA AirVenture 2014 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where they’ll perform in a live fly-off at show center on Wednesday, July 30, at 9:30 a.m.
