TL Sport Aircraft will use a turboprop engine manufactured by French company Turbotech to power some of its models.

The company announced Monday that it will offer Turbotech’s TP-R90 for its Sirius, Stream, and Sparker ultralight aircraft.

In a statement, TL Sport Aircraft said Turbotech’s heat exchanger technology lowers the environmental impact of its turbine propulsion systems. The TP-R90 also has notably higher reliability and time between overhauls compared to its piston engine counterparts, the company said.

“We are proud to offer a propulsion option that lowers the environmental impact of the turbine,” said TL Sport Aircraft president Trey Murdaugh. “Turbotech’s decade of research and development complements our commitment to the development of innovative aircraft designs.”

TL Sport Aircraft, the North American distributor for Czech Republic-based manufacturer TL-Ultralight, currently sells five models—the Sirius, Sirius Backcountry, Sparker, Stream, and Sting S4.
