A pilot from the Denver-area is likely thanking his guardian angel after he walked away from what looked like an unsurvivable accident yesterday afternoon. Channel 7 News in Denver reported that the airplane, a Piper Pawnee crop duster, crashed into a house in a Denver suburb called Northglenn, a house that the pilot, identified as Brian Veatch, had owned and sold in 2003.

Veatch was towing a banner when the airplane reportedly suffered engine trouble. The pilot, who is also a firefighter, jettisoned the banner but was unable to make an emergency landing. The airplane ended up in the side of the house and Veatch reportedly lowered himself from the cockpit to the second floor of the home before walking out.

He was treated for minor injuries at the scene. Nobody was home at the time of the crash, and firefighters were able to rescue the pets that were inside the house before it was engulfed in flames.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the crash.
