Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are combing through debris trying to find the cause of a fiery business jet crash on Tuesday night in Atlanta in which two people were killed. The Beech Premier I departed from Fulton County Airport at the western edge of the city around 7:22 p.m. and was on its way to Lakefront Airport in New Orleans, according to data from FlightAware.com.
The airplane crashed in a wooded area near residential homes, but nobody on the ground was hurt. While no one can tell with certainty what a pilot is doing by watching from the outside, a witness reported to a local CBS station that the pilot made a last minute evasive maneuver to avoid a home.
