Used Business Aircraft Sales Numbers for November Show Promise

According to numbers supplied by Avdata, North American sales of used turbine aircraft in November last year were comparable to those recorded in 2008 — the first month following the economic collapse. For example, in 2009, there were 36 sales of light business jets compared with 35 in 2008. Medium jet sales improved last year 35 vs 23 in 2008; as did heavy jet sales at 33 vs 23 for 2008. Light turboprop sales were up in November 2009 at 37 compared with 30 in the same month of 2008 — though medium and heavy turboprops suffered slight declines in low volume last year. Medium turboprop sales went from 16 in November 2008 to 10 in 2009; heavy turboprops dipped in sales from 25 to 14. Sales of used aircraft are typically viewed as symptomatic of the overall economic direction of the industry.
