Two More Top Execs Resign at Wayfarer

Acting President Bob Marinace and Executive Vice President Gil Wolin have resigned from Wayfarer Aviation, the corporate successor to JetDirect Aviation. Former JetDirect Chief Operating Officer Marinace has formed his own consulting group, and Wolin will hang out a shingle as a sales, marketing and communications expert for hire. JetDirect was bought and renamed Wayfarer in April by investment firm Brantley Partners after steep deterioration of JetDirect's finances and customer base. Before its collapse, it had been among the top three aircraft charter/management firms, having taken over the customer base from TAG Aviation USA when that company was forced to divest by the government based on its foreign management structure. A group of other former employees have started their own competing company, Flight Partners. Flight Partners founder and CEO Herb Marchman said, "The sale of TAG Aviation USA and subsequent collapse of JetDirect created a significant void in the marketplace and a terrific opportunity." Flight Partners is based in Redwood City, California, and has offices in Seattle and Fort Lauderdale.

Mark Phelps is a senior editor at AVweb. He is an instrument rated private pilot and former owner of a Grumman American AA1B and a V-tail Bonanza.
