Reno Air Race Future Appears Safe

After a successful show this past September, with gorgeous weather conditions and strong attendance numbers, the 50th edition of the Reno Air Races has been scheduled for September 11 through 15 of next year. While the tragedy of the 2011 races will never be forgotten, the Reno Air Race Association (RARA) can now look forward to a banner year with a major anniversary to celebrate.

RARA has launched an online merchandise store, offering products such as clothing, pins, posters, videos and past programs, to help offset the cost of putting together the event. If you’re looking for holiday gifts for your aviation friends, you may be able to find some good options at shop.airrace.org. RARA has also already nailed down dates for the 2014 and 2015 events, indicating a level of certainty regarding the future of the races.

Tickets for the 2013 show are not available quite yet and no announcements have been made as far as who the airshow performers will be. But the 50th anniversary of the pylon races will likely be an event no air race enthusiast should miss.
