Jeppesen Premiers Smart Phone-based Pilot Service

Jeppesen has teamed with Hilton Software to offer up to 15 applications for pilots that will interface with an increasing number of smart mobile phones. Jeppesen Mobile expects to be available soon on Blackberrys and iPhones, offering full Airport Facility Directory information, including touch activation for hotlinks to ASOS, ATIS and FBO phone numbers. The system also includes weather information, including metars, TAFs and information on winds and temperatures aloft, radar and satellite images. Pilots can also receive weather briefings and information on TFRs and file DUATs flight plans on their phones. Initial cost of the service is expected to be $169 per year with renewals pegged at $129.
