Flight Instructors Group at Odds With Its Leadership

Following the attempted ouster of two popular board members, a contingent of the National Association of Flight Instructors has organized to challenge the group's board of directors. Citing "recent developments at the board level," a group known as Take Back Our NAFI (TBO NAFI) issued a press release calling for "swift and sweeping changes" in the association's governance. TBO NAFI was formed after directors JoAnn and Sandy Hill, identified as "productive, well liked and pro-instructor," were informed they would not be re-elected to the board and they would be relieved of their day-to-day duties associated with the NAFI master instructor program. TBO NAFI stressed in its release it has no quarrel with the Experimental Aircraft Association, a staunch supporter of the group, but rather the unnamed issues lie with NAFI governance. A TBO NAFI committee will meet informally tomorrow morning in the lobby of the AOPA Expo in San Jose to plan future action. The group has established a website at tbo-nafi.org.
