Colorado Takes Its Aviation Message Public

Yesterday was 'Aviation Saves' day at Centennial Airport near Denver, organized by the Colorado Aviation Business Association (CABA). The ramps and hangars at X Jet and Signature FBOs were chock-a-block with aircraft representing the public service mission served by GA. Displays included aircraft and service providers representing aeromedical, patient transfer, law enforcement, newsgathering, firefighting, community outreach, traffic monitoring, border protection, weather research and more. The event ran from noon to 7 pm and included a list of GA heavyweight speakers at the industry luncheon — Ed Bolen, president of National Business Aviation Association; Pete Bunce, president of General Aviation Manufacturers Association, Jim Coyne, president of the National Air Transportation Association; and Jack Pelton, chairman and CEO of Cessna. The lineup included at least a half dozen aircraft and 30 static displays. Colorado has always been one of the best organized states in promoting general aviation, and the recent renaming of CABA (now expanded to Colorado Aviation Business Association — from Centennial Airport Business Association) is further evidence that the state of Colorado values its aviation commitment. Led by CABA leader Iver Retrum, he time, expense and effort to put together "Aviation Saves" reaffirms the drive to promote all that is positive about GA.
