SyberJet Aircraft inked a deal last week with Honeywell for a new integrated flight deck called SyberVision to be installed into the SJ30 light business jet. The avionics system is a blend of Honeywell’s Primus Apex and Epic avionics suites, with up to four 12-inch LCD displays.
SyberVision offers synthetic vision, electronic charts and maps, WAAS GPS-enabled LPV approaches, TCAS, TAWS and onboard weather. Another SyberVision feature that should make life easier for operators flying the airplane single pilot is Honeywell’s Interactive Navigation (INAV) map display, which allows the pilot to graphically amend a flight plan entered into the flight management system.
The Williams FJ44-2A engines that power the SJ30 will also be incorporated into the SyberVision flight deck. SyberJet’s general manager Mark Fairchild said the company expects certification for the SyberVision in the third quarter of 2014, with first deliveries beginning in early 2015.
The SyberJet SJ30 carries six to seven people and boasts speeds of 0.83 Mach and a range of 2,500 nm. SyberJet Aircraft purchased the assets for the Sino Swearingen-designed SJ30 out of bankruptcy from Emivest Aerospace Corporation last year. The company still has offices in San Antonio, Texas, where Emivest was based, but major assembly of the SJ30 has been moved from Martinsburg, West Virginia, to SyberJet’s facility in Cedar City, Utah.
