At approximately 1055 Pacific time, the airplane sustained substantial damage during a forced landing following a loss of engine power. The private pilot and the flight instructor-rated passenger were not injured. Visual conditions prevailed for the post-maintenance test flight, which had been airborne for approximately 10 minutes.

At 1823 Central time, the airplane sustained substantial damage during a forced landing following a loss of engine power. The commercial pilot, who was the sole occupant at the time of the accident, was not injured. Visual conditions prevailed for the skydiving flight.

February 4, 2010, Dolan Springs, Ariz., Piper PA-32R-301T

At about 1500 Mountain time, the airplane experienced an in-flight fire. The commercial pilot and passenger were not injured. The airplane was destroyed by a post-crash fire. Visual conditions prevailed. About 30 minutes into the flight, at 9500 feet msl, the pilot smelled fuel. A few seconds later the smell became “overwhelming” and was accompanied by a sensation of deceleration.

February 6, 2010, Fayetteville, Ark., Beech A36 Bonanza

At about 1145 Central time, the airplane was substantially damaged when it impacted terrain while on an IFR approach. The instrument-rated private pilot, a private pilot-rated passenger and two other passengers were fatally injured. Visual conditions prevailed at the destination airport at the time of the accident. Preliminary radar data indicated the airplane varied altitude and heading outside the final approach fix and impacted terrain 11 miles south of the runways approach end.

The two airplanes collided at 1327 Mountain time shortly after the Piper released a Schweizer SGS 2-32 glider. Visual conditions prevailed. The commercial pilot aboard the Piper and the private pilot and passenger aboard the Cirrus were fatally injured. The commercial pilot and two passengers aboard the Schweizer were not injured.

At approximately 1130 Eastern time, the airplane nosed over while landing. The airline transport pilot and passenger sustained minor injuries. Visual conditions prevailed. The flight had originated in Medford, Ore., a few days prior to the accident. The airplane was being ferried to its new owner.

The airplane experienced a loss of engine power and force landed in a park at about 0840 Mountain time. The commercial pilot was not injured, but his passenger sustained minor injuries. The airplane was substantially damaged. Visual conditions prevailed.

February 8, 2010, Redlands, Calif., Yakovlev YAK 52

The airplane collided with terrain while maneuvering at about 1250 Pacific time. The commercial pilot and second pilot were killed; the airplane was substantially damaged. Visual conditions prevailed. A witness reported observing the airplane perform aerobatics and then return to the airport, where the pilot added oil to the onboard smoke system. Shortly, the airplane departed and the pilot performed aerobatics for 10 to 15 minutes.
