Tecnam P2010 Making Certification Progress

** Tecnam P2010**

One of the most intriguing four-seaters emerging from a European company today is the Tecnam P2010, a composite fuselage, high-wing design intended to be both economical and capable.

Tecnam test pilots flew the test example to Aero Friedrichshafen, a journey of nearly 500 nm, cruising at 10,000 feet for much of the flight. Powered by a 180 hp Lycoming IO-360 engine and with a fuel capacity of 55 gallons, the P2010 has a maximum range of close to 700 nm at 65-percent power and 130 knots.

Tecnam plans to certify the model jointly through the FAA and EASA, with certification targeted by the end of this year. Cost of the model is between $260,000 for an airplane with conventional gauges to around $325,000 for one with a full-up Garmin G1000 suite.

Tecnam is also working toward certification of the P2006T and P2012 piston twins.
