United Airlines was forced to temporarily ground all flights in the U.S. and Canada on Friday due to a systemwide outage.
Media reports said the outage affected boarding as well as the airline’s website and app.
Passengers took to social media to express their dismay over login issues, delays, and cancelled flights.
@united System down? Can’t check bags but welcome to carryon? What about my wife’s bag? Should I just leave her in @BHMAirport?

One commended an airline employee for how he handled the situation.
@united Just wanted to highlight one of your employees at BDL, Devon Ferrell, who appeared to be working three different gates during the computer shutdown, and still had a smile on his face.

The issue appeared to be resolved just before 8 a.m., but some airports—including in Jacksonville, Florida, and Denver—cautioned travelers to expect delays.
We experienced a system outage this morning, but everything is up and running and operations have resumed. Any flight changes will be updated as well. Please feel free to speak with a gate agent regarding your current flight. ^RB
