Following the debut of its Phenom 100 very light jet during the mid-2000s, Embraer quickly discovered that many customers were looking for something just a bit larger and more luxurious. After initially planning to stretch the Phenom 100 to carry more passengers, the Brazilian company known for its popular regional jet airliners decided to design a new model.
