June 10, Dodge City, Kan. / Boeing 757

At approximately 1000 mountain time, the captain of a Boeing 757-200 was rendered incapacitated when he was hit on the head by the cockpit doors upper blow-out panel. The airplane was cruising 34 nautical miles southwest of Dodge City when the incident occurred. A flight attendant was attempting to secure the door after delivering a tray of refreshments. May 24, Amarillo, Texas / Boeing 737

At approximately 2136 central time, a Boeing 737-300 struck runway lights during a loss of control on landing on runway 04 at the Amarillo International Airport. The five crewmembers and 63 passengers were not injured. During the instrument approach into the field, the crew reported being on the edge of a thunderstorm and said visibility was starting to deteriorate. Just before landing, the controller reported the wind from 220 at 9 knots. The airplane touched down with no perceptible drift, but then veered to the left side of the runway. Nov. 6, Newark, N.J. / Boeing 737-3TO

At about 18:20 EST, a Boeing 737-3TO operated by Continental Airlines as flight 1924 suffered a twisted right main landing gear while landing at Newark International Airport. There were no injuries. The airplane had landed on runway 4R and was on its landing roll when a vibration was felt. The airplane was stopped on the runway and was examined by emergency personnel. Jan. 20, Pacific Ocean / Boeing 747-238B

At about 12:30 hours UTC, a Boeing 747-238B being operated by Continental Airlines encountered clear air turbulence while at FL330 approximately 900 miles east of Tokyo. The aircraft sustained minor interior damage and four flight attendants and 10 passengers sustained minor injuries. The flight, being operated as Continental flight 910 from Tokyo to Honolulu, had departed Tokyos Narita International airport a little more than an hour before the event. Dec. 9, New York, N.Y. / Boeing 737

At about 17:25 EST, a Boeing 737 operating as Canadian Airlines Flight 528 experienced a near midair collision while maneuvering to land at La Guardia Airport. The Boeing 737 was on downwind for runway 4, at 4,000 feet, when the crew caught a glimpse of three lights. The first officer saw the other airplane and had enough time to realize they were not going to collide, but not enough time to execute an evasive maneuver. In addition, the airplanes TCAS went from TRAFFIC to MONITOR VERTICAL SPEED to CLEAR OF CONFLICT in approximately 2 seconds. The other airplane reportedly was a Cessna 172, IFR at 5,000 feet. Apr. 1, Chicago, Ill. / Two Boeing 747s

At 02:20 CST, an Air China cargo 747 and a Korean Air passenger 747 nearly collided on runway 14R at the OHare International Airport. The Air China 747 had landed at OHare just prior to the incident. The Korean Air 747 was departing. Air China landed on 14R and was cleared to turn off the runway via a right turn on taxiway Tango 10, a left turn on taxiway Kilo, and to cross runway 27L to the cargo ramp. The controller cleared the Korean Air flight for takeoff as the Air China flight was clearing the runway. At 19:15 PDT, a United Airlines Boeing 737-300 experienced an uncommanded roll to the left during level cruise at flight level 310, 25 miles northwest of Santa Barbara. At about 15:40 EST, a flight attendant was seriously injured when she fell out of the main cabin door of a Boeing 737-300 at Newark International Airport. The airplane, which was operating as Continental Airlines flight 517, was parked at the gate. The airplane was completely closed and the jetway had been pushed back in preparation for departure. An agent asked if two additional passengers could board. The captain agreed to do so, and the agent proceeded back up the jetway to get the additional passengers. At 13:17 PDT, a United Airlines Boeing 737-300 aborted its takeoff roll because of an uncommanded yaw as the airplane accelerated through 120-130 knots. The yaw coupler was replaced and the aircraft continued on to its original destination. After the aircraft landed at Los Angeles, a company mechanic noticed that the nose gear made an unusual bump and rattle during turning while the aircraft was being taxied to the hanger. At 15:10 EDT, a Continental Airlines Boeing 737 hit clear air turbulence while in cruise flight at 29,000 feet, approximately 180 miles south of Bermuda. Four flight attendants and 67 passengers suffered minor injuries and one passenger was seriously injured. The flight crew and 87 passengers were uninjured. The captain said the airplane experienced two severe jolts that led to a descent of more than 2,000 feet per minute….
