Several landing and navigation light switches failed due to overheating, burning, or internal shorts, with some incidents leading to smoke in the cockpit.
Many of these switch failures occurred despite parts being "new and improved" or installed under Airworthiness Directives (ADs), often significantly below their rated operational lifecycles.
