April 3, 2008, New York, N.Y., Cessna 750 Citation

The airplane departed the right side of JFKs Runway 13L at 2014 Eastern time during the landing rollout. Night visual conditions prevailed; the airplane received substantial damage. The airline transport rated pilot-in-command and co-pilot (CP) reported no injuries. After touchdown, the CP stated he did not have nosewheel steering, brakes or any feeling of engine thrust reverse at approximately 80 knots. The crew applied emergency air brakes, and the airplane veered off the runway to the right with visible skid marks present on the runway. The airplane collided with a dirt divider, sheared off the left main landing gear, buckled the nosegear and the left wing dug into the sand before the airplane came to a complete stop. Prior to the landing, the crew encountered problems with the “A” hydraulic system and performed checklist procedures.

February 1, 2008, West Gardiner, Maine, Cessna Citation 525

At about 1748 Eastern time, the aircraft crashed in a wooded area shortly after takeoff. The private instrument-rated pilot and one passenger received fatal injuries; the airplane was destroyed. Instrument conditions prevailed. At about 1730, the airplanes engines started and it was observed taxiing. An FBO representative noticed the airplane was not on the taxiway, but on the grass area on the south side of the asphalt taxiway. At that time the ground was covered with snow and ice. The airplane taxied through a ditch, which was covered with ice and snow. It was later discovered that the airplanes left main tire broke through the ice and became stuck in the ditch.

December 2, 2007, Coeur dAlene, Idaho, Cessna 551 Citation II

The airplane was substantially damaged at approximately 1840 Pacific time when it departed the runway during landing roll. The airline transport pilot, airline transport second pilot, and their six passengers were not injured. Visual conditions prevailed. The pilot reported the airplane rotated 90 degrees left after touchdown and continued until the aircraft departed the runway and the nose gear failed. The pilot said he was told that there was three-quarters of an inch of snow on the runway, and the wind was 80 degrees left quarterly at 19, gusting to 29 knots. After landing, he discovered that the runway had 2 inches of slush on it.

May 3, 2007, Dillon, Mon., Cessna S550 Citation

The airplane collided with terrain at about 1040 Mountain time during a circling instrument approach. The Airline Transport pilot and one passenger sustained fatal injuries; the airplane was destroyed. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed. A witness later stated a whistling noise got his attention. He looked up and saw an airplane below the cloud bases, turning to the right. Its attitude was about 75 to 80 degrees nose low. It made six to seven turns before it disappeared from sight behind terrain, and the radius of the turn got tighter as the airplane descended. He did not see any smoke, and the airplane appeared to be intact.

January 12, 2007, Van Nuys, Calif., Cessna 525 CitationJet

The Airline Transport pilot and Commercial-rated copilot sustained fatal injuries and the airplane was destroyed after colliding with terrain at about 1107 Pacific time, shortly after takeoff. Visual conditions prevailed. Before departing, one of the linemen observed the copilot loading bags into the left front baggage compartment. He did not see him latch or lock it.

February 1, 2006, Greensboro, N.C. / Cessna Model 500 Citation

At 1317 Eastern time, the aircrafts right main landing gear collapsed during the landing roll; the airplane came to rest in the mud on the right side of the runway. The Commercial pilot and copilot were uninjured; the airplane sustained substantial damage. According to the flight crew, after takeoff they could not get the right gear to fully retract. The crew declared an emergency and proceeded to land. Examination of the right main landing gear found the upper portion of the gear trunnion fractured and pulled out of the forward wing spar. November 5, 2005, Houston, Texas / Cessna Model 500 Citation

At 0958 Central time, the airplane was destroyed upon impacting terrain following a loss of control on takeoff. The Instrument-rated Commercial pilot and one passenger were fatally injured. Visual conditions prevailed. One witness later stated the aircraft appeared to have stalled during the ascent, banked to the right, crashing onto Runway 12L/30R. According to the NTSB, the passenger was employed by the pilot as a maintenance technician, and had been working on the airplane. The 1972 model airplane, serial number 004, was certified for single-pilot operation. Aircraft flight records indicate January 31, 2005, as its last previous flight….
