I submitted a PIREP yesterday that didnt get disseminated properly. Not only did it not show up during the 1.7 hours left in the flight, it wasnt listed when I checked after landing on the aviationweather.gov/adds web site for PIREPs in the previous eight hours. However, after submitting an inquiry about this to Lockheed Martin, it showed up the next morning (about 20 hours after the flight).

Gemini Sparkle

Key Takeaways:

  • Pilots reported issues with delayed PIREP dissemination and sought clarifications on BasicMed rules regarding aircraft seating capacity and international flight authorization.
  • Concerns were raised about GPS jamming not being classified as a safety-of-flight issue, highlighting the increasing reliance on GPS as the FAA phases out ground-based navaids and mandates GPS capability for future IFR flying.
  • A technical explanation clarified how static port blockages can lead to highly inaccurate, potentially zero, airspeed readings, often exacerbated by pilot response.
