When the economy slips, it sometimes pays off to address customers’ needs to downsize. That could be part of the thinking behind JetDirect Aviation (formerly TAG) moving more aggressively into the turboprop and light-jet charter segment. Last year, JetDirect acquired California-based Sunset Aviation, which focuses on the lighter side of corporate charter. Sunset operates a mixed fleet comprised of Beech King Airs and Eclipse very light jets up through Cessna Citations and Hawkers. With backing from parent company JetDirect, Sunset is now set up to operate as an independent subsidiary, with founder and president Dan Drohan remaining in the company’s left seat.
JetDirect Turns Attention to T-Props and Light Jets
Key Takeaways:
- JetDirect Aviation is expanding its services into the turboprop and light-jet charter segment.
- This expansion was facilitated by the acquisition of Sunset Aviation, a company specializing in lighter corporate charters with a mixed fleet.
- Sunset Aviation will operate as an independent subsidiary under its founder, Dan Drohan, potentially catering to customers' needs for more economical options during economic downturns.
