At a Wednesday press conference Jeppesen announced that it was providing Aspen Avionics with a new kind of data set that provides the Aspen-equipped airplane owner with a way to update multiple data sets at the same time. In one fell swoop, the user can install NavData, obstacles, terrain and cultural data on the Aspen PFD, while saving money over the cost of each individual installation. Jeppesen, along with partner SolidFX, also showed off a new e-reader, the iRex reader, that uses a bright and very sharp gray-scale reader to show approach charts in full size (or larger). The $1,595 iRex reader, similar in appearance to the larger Kindle product, shows off a full JeppView package. Subscription prices vary.
