Ditching Avgas: Unleaded to Oshkosh

Oshkosh during AirVenture 2011.**

The Aviation Fuel Club is urging anyone who can fly to Oshkosh next month using unleaded autogas to do as part of an event it's calling "Unleaded to Oshkosh" to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the FAA's approval of the first autogas STC.

Dubbed U2OSH by event organizers, the effort is being led in part by EAA founder Paul Poberezny. According to the club, any and all pilots who fly to AirVenture 2012 using unleaded gasoline will be given special recognition, including a prize when they register on site. Additional awards will be given for the longest distance traveled to Oshkosh on lead-free autogas, as well as the oldest/newest aircraft and smallest/largest aircraft flown using autogas.

The event's headquarters will be the exhibit of U-Fuel, Booth No. 339, next to the American Legend Aircraft exhibit. U2OSH cosponsors are Petersen Aviation, FlyUnleaded, American Legend and Air Plains. The group will also host a forum at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, during AirVenture, where several unleaded gasoline experts will speak.
