Bombardier has announced that the Eugene Cernan Safety Award will be handed out for the first time at the annual Bombardier Safety Standdown, scheduled this year Oct. 8-11 in Wichita, Kansas. Several criteria must be met to be eligible as a nominee for the award, including previous participation at the Bombardier Safety Standdown.
“The nominee should be an individual who has made a difference to aviation safety by setting the highest professional standards, leading by example and mentoring others in their pursuit of excellence and professionalism,” said Rick Rowe, manager of Safety Standdown programs. “They should demonstrate traits similar to those that contributed to the successful career of Naval Aviator, Astronaut and Safety Standdown ambassador, Capt. Gene Cernan.”
