My only real experience with of helicopters results from serving as self-loading freight on a handful of occasions. The charts often are the same; so are airport operations.
Experienced helicopter pilots crashed an overloaded Cirrus SR20 in high-density altitude mountainous terrain, resulting in fatal injuries.
The NTSB determined the probable cause was the pilot's failure to maintain sufficient airspeed and aircraft control, operating with reduced engine power and flying too close to the stall speed.
A significant contributing factor was the pilots' lack of experience operating fixed-wing aircraft in high-density altitude environments, leading them to apply helicopter-specific maneuvers (slowing down to climb) unsuitable for an airplane.
