FLYING Magazine has officially launched its new Editor’s Choice Awards for 2026. Designed to formally recognize the most outstanding products across the general aviation (GA) industry, this program highlights standout innovation as the brand readies for its centennial in 2027.

Since its inception FLYING has been a leader in delivering our audience top-tier analysis on the latest developments in the industry. Our Editor’s Choice Awards will further that commitment.

The 2026 award recipients will represent the final class of innovators before FLYING turns 100, allowing winning brands to become a permanent part of aviation publishing’s most enduring story.

Selected entirely by our editors, the awards will highlight products from five distinct categories, with the winners being announced live during the opening night of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in July.

The five categories include:

  • Piston & Light Sport Aircraft: Recognizing excellence in singles, twins, LSA, experimental/EAB, and MOSAIC aircraft.
  • Jets & Turboprops: Highlighting achievements in business jets, turboprops, and owner-flown turbines.
  • Avionics & Cockpit Technology: Honoring developments in displays, autopilots, ADS-B, GPS, EFB apps, and engine monitors.
  • Pilot Gear & Accessories: Covering headsets, flight bags, portables, wearables, and specialized cockpit accessories.
  • Training & Flight Education: Celebrating top-tier flight schools, simulators, online education platforms, and safety programs.

Finalists for each category will be announced mid-June. Winners will be notified of their selection July 1 before being awarded a physical trophy at FLYING’s party during the opening night of Oshkosh on July 20.

In addition to the recognition received by being chosen, winners will have the exclusive opportunity to decide between three tiers of amplification packages to purchase that will  further solidify each brand and product in the minds of FLYING readers.

For those interested in entering a product, single entries are available at $250 per category, which includes a full editorial review alongside an official listing on FlyingMag.com. For brands looking to enter multiple products, a $200 bundle entry is available, allowing participants to save on additional entries. An entry purchase ensures that a product will receive consideration. Winners will be chosen by FLYING’s editorial team after a thorough review of all products entered.

Products must have been commercially available during the 2025 calendar year to receive consideration.
